We Offer Periodontal CarePeriodontal Services for Your Oral Health

As a family dental care provider, we provide services and treatments that support your dental health—regardless of your age or your oral health state! To better serve our patients, we offer treatments to optimize your dental health, and to keep you away from periodontal disease. Undergoing a bone graft, or perhaps a scaling and root planing treatment, are two examples of our differing periodontal services that can help you to maintain and improve your smile.

Scaling and Root Planing

Scaling and root planing is a safe deep cleaning procedure that inhibits gum disease. After scraping away excessive tartar (scaling), Dr. Reyes and his team will then smooth out uneven areas of the tooth (planing). By removing the tartar and smoothing the teeth, gum disease will be less likely to progress because the patient is able to clean the area more thoroughly and bacteria has less areas to hide.

To discuss these periodontal services with one of our trusted dental professionals, please call us today at 210.791.0719.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal maintenance is typically encouraged for patients who have previously had periodontal disease. The maintenance is an ongoing check-up program to keep your gums healthy, and to prevent long-term damage. The routine visits will keep a record of your pocket depths, and will make note of any further periodontal issues. Periodontal maintenance will help prevent additional dental issues that may occur in the future, such as the advancement of periodontal disease.

Gingivectomy

In order to save existing teeth that have been affected by periodontal disease, a gingivectomy is sometimes required. This procedure removes and reshapes the affected gum tissue to reduce the depth of the pockets between the gums and teeth. If a patient has previously had scaling and root planing treatments and it was not effective, a gingivectomy may be recommended.

Bone Grafting

After loosing a tooth, a small section of your tooth’s root and bone is lost too. A bone graft procedure replaces the bone that was once there so that dental implants are once again an option.
