Treating Crooked or Misaligned Teeth And Making Over Your Smile

Embarrassed by Crooked Or Misaligned Teeth?

Crooked teeth can be more than just an aesthetic issue. If your teeth are significantly misaligned, serious complications may arise, such as tooth decay, gum disease, abnormal wear of the teeth, misalignment of the jaw and TMJ disorder. To ensure that your bite is aligned properly, and to prevent the future shifting of your teeth, orthodontic treatment is often recommended for patients with crooked teeth.

Two of the most effective solutions for crooked teeth are our two orthodontic options: Braces and Invisalign® in San Antonio, TX.

Braces - The Traditional Orthodontic Method

Braces work by applying brackets on to each tooth and connecting them by a wire. Depending on your current alignment, orthodontic treatment typically lasts for about eighteen to twenty four months

The advancement of braces has increasingly progressed over the years. Today, they are metallic or clear, and can be made up of strong materials such as ceramic, metal or plastic. The wires that are used are less noticeable, and because of their stronger compound, are able to straighten teeth faster.

Invisalign - Clear BracesInvisalign® - The Clear Alternative To Traditional Braces

Invisalign® is a more modern way of straightening your teeth—and it is important to see an Invisalign certified provider, like Dr. Reyes, who can ensure that this process is on a monitored plan. Unlike the metal and wire materials used for braces, Invisalign® is virtually invisible, made of a sturdy plastic, and can be removed for an easy cleaning.

After an evaluation with Dr. Reyes, we will make a customized treatment plan by obtaining appropriate orthodontic records in order to determine the best treatment plan for you. Invisaling trays will subsequently be made specifically for you.

Unlike braces, these straightening trays are replaced approximately every two weeks. Checkups with Dr. Reyes occur every six to eight weeks for the entire year that the treatment usually runs for.
